Pressure Vessel Inspection

Pressure Vessel is a term used by Health and Safety to describe compressors, autoclaves and their associated pipe work and safety devices. An autoclave uses high pressure and extremely hot steam to sterilize instruments, and should be inspected regularly for signs of corrosion or fault that may lead to a dangerous breakdown.

Autoclaves are high-risk equipment. Their use is covered by the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR). It is essential that autoclave equipment is periodically examined and certified that is is suitable for continued use.
